Aung San Suu Kyi to be freed!
Aung San Suu Kyi is a Burmese opposition politician and a former General Secretary of the National League for Democracy. The latest news is that the democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi will be released days after Myanmar's first election in two decades. In the 1990 general election, Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy party won 59% of the national votes and 392 of 492 seats in Parliament. The Nobel peace Laureate had, however, already been detained under house arrest before the elections. She has remained under house arrest in Myanmar for almost 14 out of the past 20 years.
