Sure. I agree.

Instant Personalization on FaceBook

I saw this today on a friend´s status message

As of today, a new privacy setting called "Instant Personalization" that shares data with non-Facebook websites and it is automatically set to "Enable." 

Go to Account>Privacy Settings>Applications and Websites>Instant Personalization>

At bottom of page Edit Settings, and un-check "Enable". 

Just so you know, if your friends don't do this, they will be sharing information about you.

So, this goes out to all the people who will panic --- I suspect there is anything to panic. Enable it if you are cool about Instant Personalization. Otherwise, do nothing!

My salary -- It is awesome. NOT!

Would you lie about your salary when asked for a figure during an interview? If your answer is YES, you are probably one of 23% candidates out there who go out on a limb and lie hoping that your new employer would never find out. The trouble is that your new employer would probably call your references and check it out anyway. So, does lying help?

Parenting - Pencil and Eraser

Pencil : I'm sorry.

Eraser : For what ? You didn't do anything wrong. 

Pencil : I'm sorry cos you get hurt because of me. Whenever I made a mistake, you're always there to erase it. But as you make my mistakes vanish, you lose a part of yourself. You get smaller and smaller each time. 

Eraser : That's true. But I don't really mind. You see, I was made to do this. I was made to help you whenever you do something wrong. Even though one day, I know I'll be gone and you'll replace me with a new one, I'm actually happy with my job. So please, stop worrying. I hate seeing you sad. :) 

A London Christmas Miracle

Imagine that feeling you get when you think you are incredibly unlucky -- all those random incidents which when combined together makes you feel very unlucky indeed? 

I cannot even begin to voice my disappointment when I realized that my laptop had crashed on Dec 24, 2010. The bugger had been my best bud for the best part of three years. Vodka, Cider, Beer, Jamesons -- nothing could take him down -- and I do not even know why Windows is failing to start. I am sure it is not a hardware issue as my little champ has stood through the test of time and a LOT of alcohol that were accidentally poured. 

I put that behind me and started enjoying a nice Christmas dinner with a few friends and what started as 'would have been an early night' soon turned into a long night. Trouble was, a friend of mine had a flight to catch at 12:30 in the afternoon on Christmas day. It is well known fact that there is no public transport on Christmas day and so we had planned for another friend to drive us there. Problem was that he was also a part of the Looooong night.

MBA Survivor

I ask you.

Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.

Do those words mean anything to you? If you think 'Survivor', you are where I want you to be. If you have other takes on these words, please feel free to share them. It is amazing what you get to know when you hear from someone outside the box.

Anyway, my next question is this. Do you think doing an MBA course is Outwitting, Outlasting or  Outplaying your colleagues? Or does it have everything to do with making your employer think that you are the best candidate for the job? (It could mean establishing that the other candidates are not as good as you are.)

Erasmus Nostalgia

Memories of Gothenburg Erasmus class of 2009

Change is scary. When the friends I made in the Erasmus 2008 batch left Sweden, there was sense of void in my heart which I thought could never be filled in any way. I was never so wrong in my whole life. While the friends you make are irreplaceable, the memories you make with new friends will fill any emptiness. That is why they are called friends.
